MEET DR. JAYMIE FOX

Dr. Jaymie L. Fox, Psy.D.

Jaymie L. Fox, Psy.D. is a Georgia licensed psychologist who has worked in pediatric psychology and with the pediatric population for over 20 years in a variety of clinical settings. Dr. Fox proudly owned Georgia Pediatric Psychology, and over the years, worked very closely with families of children diagnosed with ASD and continues to coordinate their care.

 

She began her initial training working in the pediatric department at the Albany Medical Center serving the emotional, cognitive, and developmental needs of medically fragile children. She went on to gain additional experience working in schools, psychiatric hospitals, college counseling centers, residential treatment facilities, rehabilitation and community mental health centers, inpatient substance abuse treatment programs, and private practice.

Dr. Fox’s graduate and postdoctoral training emphasized skills in behavioral, cognitive-behavioral, and family systems treatment approaches. She served as a consultant to area Head Start programs, school-based treatment programs, and other area agencies. She received specialized training in Relationship Development Intervention (RDI), a highly effective approach to treating Autism Spectrum Disorder, and participated in an educational intervention program that serves Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS) children and their families where she co-lead educational/advocacy parent training workshops for behavioral regulation (Cognitive-Behavioral Approach) for FAS children.

Dr. Fox completed her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the State University at Albany in Albany, New York and then pursued a Master’s degree in education and counseling from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia. Early on, she worked as an elementary school counselor where she provided individual and small group counseling and conducted weekly classroom guidance activities in the areas of self-concept, peer-relations, and conflict resolution. She coordinated several school wide programs, including character education, drug education, and conflict mediation in support of an anti-school wide bullying program. Dr. Fox presented monthly parent workshops in order to increase parent involvement and improve parent assistance in the classroom and at home. She coordinated outreach services to families, school-wide discipline programs, and organized and implemented the school crisis plan and services.

Dr. Fox pursued a second Master’s degree in clinical psychology and Doctor of Psychology degree from the APA-accredited Georgia School of Professional Psychology in Atlanta, Georgia with a primary emphasis in child and family. As part of her clinical training, she worked at the Emory Department of Rehabilitation Medicine and Marcus Autism Center where she provided psychological and neuropsychological assessments of children, adolescents, and adults. She received advanced therapy training at North Point Psychology, a private practice in Alpharetta, GA. Dr. Fox completed pre-doctoral clinical training at the University of Southern Mississippi Consortium in Hattiesburg, MS and postdoctoral training at Atlanta Psychological Services where she advanced her diagnostic and therapeutic skills.

Dr. Fox received the Ralph Sidman Memorial Scholarship, and she was a participant in the Presidential Honor Society, Psi Chi National Honor Society, and Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society throughout her course of undergraduate and graduate training. She is a member of the Georgia Psychological Association and American Psychological Association.
